linkOK so I guess I'm the first to write a review for this place. Awesome! I will make it good. Nothing bad to say.
The setting for this place is crazy cool. Up in the hills of southwest Austin, to get to this place you're driving on twist and turns narrow roads surrounded by trees and bushes until you get to a left turn off marking their location on a chalkboard. You'll turn here onto a dirt road and about 300 feet down you can start parking. The brewery itself is in an old renovated farm building. Looks like they are still making some repairs here and there and new additions. Off to the right of the brewery it looks to be a place they are turning into a large outdoor covered seating area. They already do have outdoor seating all underneath the trees and up a path leading away from the brewery. Seems like there was always seating though. You could only get one sample of beer at a time so you'd end up getting a new seat every time as you'd get up and some one else would sit where you were.
Went here Saturday the 4th of August for their weekly brewery tour and outing. They have live music and do 3 tours. First one starts at 130 and they are on the hour after that. When they aren't doing a tour there is a band playing up on the deck they have and this week it was a hillbilly band. Not sure if it's always the same band or not but they play only for tips. No one is paying them to come out and play for everyone in the hot sun so help out if you can. Tour lasts about 25 minutes and its pretty interesting the things you learn about this brewery in particular. You'll have to find out for yourself what I mean. So check them out.
The way they work their tour and beer tasting is you pay 10 bucks for the tour and a souvenir glass (goblet style) and you get 6-7 half pours of their beer. They had 7 beers when we went. One was out so only got 6. And one of them was a guest beer. Not sure if they do that every time but it was an awesome guest beer and I know why they chose it to go amongst their own. Their beers are all a bit funky and for the most part dry. Due to the yeast they use in all their beers. They were all very good beers and worth every bit of your 10 dollars. Going to the liquor store later to buy some since they can't legally sell on site. They can however sell their glassware if you want another glass or any of their other merchandise.
