The beer selection is great. They carry every beer they make. The atmosphere is "industrial brewery," and they do that very well too. The service is fantastic, as you ask for a beer and it's handed to you w/in second. Couldn't be fresher, since this IS WHERE the beer is brewed. The requirement to rate the food is completely irrelevant, but the food trucks that visit each Saturday are first rate. Since Capitol City Brewing abandoned their brewing presence in D.C., D.C. Brau is brewing just about the best Pale Ale in the city as of early 2013.

DC Brau began operations in early 2011, the first production brewery in DC since 1956. Open most Saturdays for tastings and tours, drive down the alleyway and turn right for free parking behind the post office. Their tasting room is relatively small with just 2 tables, and the brewing equipment is easily visible in the adjacent room. This is a very popular event, so expect there to be a crowd. DC Brau has three flagship brews - Citizen Belgian-Style Ale, Corruption India Pale Ale, and Public Pale Ale. They also feature a rotating seasonal, and when I visited it was their spicy Thyme After Thyme. All are flavorful, full-bodied ales. I predict this brewery will continue to grow steadily and do well in the DC area. Update late 2012: After tasting their delicious "Middle Name Danger Saison" collaboration with Stillwater, and "Fermentation Without Representation Imperial Pumpkin Porter" collaboration with Epic Brewing, I am upgrading their selection score. DC Brau continues to grow nicely!
