The Point Brewery is a fun place to visit. In fact the town of Steven’s Point is a decent summer weekend destination.

The tour costs two dollars and includes a couple of beers in their tasting room. Actually you will get more than two as the guides will let you try the whole line-up.

The tour is fun. This is an older small brewery that has expanded over the years, so expect to walk-up a bunch of stairs and dash in & out-of-doors as you go between the different buildings. It is interesting to see how the architecture of the building has evolved over the years.

The tour ends in a small wood paneled tasting room. I swear its almost like drinking in your uncle’s “rec-room”. They have some great older memorabilia on display.

Be sure and check out the attached gift shop. Besides the usual hats & t-shirts, you can get glassware, tap handles, one of those Point guy bobble heads, key chains, etc.

The brewery is involved in the local community and has at least two large events each year. These include a Bock fun run in the early spring & the beer, brats & band festival that is usually in mid-August. The later is a blast (I’ve never been to the bock run, but have heard good things).

Note that Point is increasing their specialty offerings. In 2007 they introduced an Oktoberfest & a winter Warmer. They also have a seasonal spring bock. Point kind of inhabits that nether world between micros and macros. They have just celebrated their 150th anniversary, so they must be doing something right!!

Final note, their brew master is related to Frank Zappa, how cool is that!!
