*** Update - As of 2014, Joboy's has moved to a new location in Lititz. *** Joboy's is a friendly little brew pub, specializing in BBQ and traditional Southern cuisine. The beef brisket is the best I've found north of I-70, and it warms my heart to find southern sides such as fried okra! In addition to the dining room, there is a small 10-chair marble-top bar. They have 9 house brews on tap, and the complimentary popcorn is a nice touch. Joboy's beers are rather well crafted, especially for such a small brewery. The offering includes their flagship Manheim Red, a tasty German Wheat, Sandy Ass Ale, Porter, and an exceptionally hoppy and delicious Hopitude American India Pale Ale. They also offer rotating recipes such as Belgian Tripel, Spring Water Cream Ale, Creek Water Brown Ale, and an interesting Hopblack Ale. I enjoyed my visit - nice beer sampler and some BBQ.

JoBoy's has been open for a few months now, and it does not appear that the "kinks" are being worked out. Only the Darkside Ale (which is apparently a different recipe every brew) and the Manheim Red were available. The Darkside had no carbonation, no aroma, and very little mouthfeel. After that I tried the Red, which was better, about what you'd expect from a homebrewed amber. However, the Red was overcarbonated from the tap, so it was being served from pitchers that were left to settle.

BBQ was good, although $8.00 for a sandwich and coleslaw is steep.

The servers were very nice, with a historic newly renovated building, so a very comfortable setting and atmosphere. Overall though, I won't be going back any time soon, and will dissuade any of my friends from going.

JoBoy's opened a few day ago and it is still going through opening day glitches. This is primarily a barbeque resturant that brews beer on a very small scale. The barbeque may be the best in Lancaster County. The food is excellent and the amount of people eating there proved it. The service was great. The atmosphere was perfect, typical of a small town pub. There were two beers on tap, an IPA, that was great but high in alcohol and Manheim Red, an amber. They were out of two other styles. This place is a welcome addition to Eastern Pennsylvania. We will go back to JoBoy's. It is already good and bound to get better. If it becomes too popular they may have a hard time supplying the demand for their beer.
