Rocky River Brewing is my favorite brewery because of the combination of its extensive food menu as well as its risky beer selections. In Fall-08 they changed brewmasters, so we will see if they changes the quality of the beer. I went recently and they had similar choices as in the past.


Food ranges from very good seafood to general bar food like pizza.

The beer is always wide ranging, they only carry 2 regular beers, all others rotate. The biggest issue is the small batches result in very limited selection at times when they switch beers. The top beers tend to be belgians and darker selections (Monkey Paw, Chocolate Cherry). An excellent stop when all they have a full beer selection. Outdoor seating is very good in the summer.

Recently the beer options on tap were:
Pirate Light and Cooper's Gold Kolsch- I give every brewery a pass in that they have to offer these selections. I don't like either one.

Bluberry Ale - Really nice flavor added to the pirate light. Excellent summer beer.

Lil Warrior APA - Fairly hoppy pale ale, I thought it was very drinkable but not super strong.

Monster Mash - Pumpkin Ale, far from the best version of pumpkin ale I have had, relatively low in flavor.

Titan Tiple Belgium Strong Ale - Just as it says, very strong belgian, strong banana flavor. Surprisingly low alcohol content for a triple (7.1%).

Funky Town Brown Ale - This one grew one me, first taste I wasn't that impressed, but had a nice complement of hop and malt for a darker beer.

Oompa Loompa Stout - Highly malty stout, went down easy, had a nice strong, long lasting head. Chocolate/coffee tastes were both evident.

Overall, every visit is a good one at this place, every food selection I have had is good, beer cheese soup and jalepeno/sour cream pretzels are a must everytime.
