Rock Bottom is a chain of (as of 2011) 34 brewpub restaurants across the US. They consistently produce a good variety of high quality beers, and while the franchise shares a core standard offering of beers, each location's brewmaster is free to create unique recipes too. A typical sampler at Rock Bottom includes: light Kolsch, crisp Gold ale, relatively mild Belgian White Ale, robust Red Ale, Brown Ale (usually Molly's Titanic), Milk Stout, Pale Ale (names vary), and hoppy India Pale Ale. Also, Rock Bottom celebrates Oktoberfest with a seasonal "Rocktoberfest" marzen and special menu of German cuisine. I have visited the King of Prussia PA location several times. The KOP mall is huge, always crowded, and RB is a nice place to break for lunch. In addition to the usual sampler of RB beers, I have also enjoyed their refreshing Liquid Sun Hefeweizen and their bold Broad Street Barleywine (10%).
The first brewpub that's inside a mall that I've been to. It's a nice place to stop off for a beer while the wife is shopping, or if you're tired of walking around the giant mall complex that is King of Prussia.
Nothing was a stand out, beer wise, but I've had much worse beers and many other brewpubs. They had 9 beers on tap, all decent. Great sampler, we got one of each of the beers on tap including the hand pump. Two different IPAs, a stout, a couple of ambers, one Belgian, a couple of lighter beers.
We sat at the bar and didn't get any food so I can't comment on that. But the bartender was nice and attentive, and I wouldn't hesitate to stop back.
Atmosphere is nothing special, but it's not a bad place, either.
Rock Bottom King of Prussia is one of the Rock Bottom chain of brew pubs. They only serve their own beer. The selection ranges from the standard light lager, amber ale to seasonal dark beers. My favorite is their Schwartzbier which won an award at GABF one year.
The brew pub is located in the King of Prussia mall with entrances from the outside and inside the mall. The overall feeling is industrial with high ceilings, hard floors. It gets crowded around happy hour and can be quite noisy.
They have a beer club which entitles you to larger mugs, and prizes the more you visit.
The food is good not great. There is a nice range of food from nachos and wings to fish tacos and salads. Prices are moderate. Good selection of flat screen tvs around the room so it is conducive to watching sporting events there.
A very nice experience! The atmosphere is pleasant for family dinners but would work for a night out with friends. It is nice to be able to enjoy a meal and not have to shout at your dinner companion. The food really worked with the beer (the menu had suggested parings. Lots of innovative menu selections. Their was plenty of parking in the mall parking lot even at rush hour. The service was good. A good beer selection, more than my travel buddy and I were able to enjoy.
