linkYou can see the Jean Bonnet Tavern from the PA Turnpike, along with their sign that urges you to go a few miles to the next exit and return. It's good advice. Not only is this a very nice, authentic early American tavern -- Washington really did sleep here, on his way to suppress the Whiskey Rebellion, and you can too, in the B&B rooms upstairs (supposedly haunted...I saw nothing) -- but they have an outstanding selection of regional craft beers on 20-odd taps. The owner knows beer and is happy to talk beer; there is a real nice crowd of regulars, too. The atmosphere can't be beat: real historic setting, and (except for the Turnpike!) bucolic surroundings with farms and forested hills. A great place to drop anchor mid-state.
