I was unexpectedly surprised by what I found at Rahr and Sons Brewing. I visited for a recent Wednesday evening tasting, which runs from 5-7:30pm. I got there around 6:00 as I got out of work, and was surprised first by the number of cars and difficulty in finding a place to park. There is a small parking lot, but it is nowhere near big enough for the huge crowd that was there. I ended up parking about 3 blocks away on the street since that was the closest spot available.

They charged $10 for a pint glass, and 3 pints of any of their 4 standard beers, and a half pint of a seasonal / specialty beer. Even with the large crowds, there's lots of room at this place and the beer lines moved quickly. Unfortunately, since I got there a bit late, I was only able to taste 2 of the standard beers (Stormcloud - the IPA, and Texas Red). The others available were a Blonde Ale and Ugly Pug - not sure what the Pug was but it was a darker pour. Both beers I tried were very impressive.

In all, I'd definitely go back if I'm in the area - just be sure to leave enough time to get through the full 3.5 pints. Also, expect really overwhelming crowds on Saturdays.

The love of beer flows here. You will expirience over a hundred years of history with Rahr beer. Fritz & Erin Rahr have created a wonderful atmosphere for their Saturday and Wednesday brewery tours/tastings. $7 gets you a pint glass, a tour and three draws off the tap. Local fare is available with live music and usually a good TCU football game on the big screen. Remember that this facility is not air conditioned, so it can get hot in the summer.
