Firefox Quicksearch
This is a walk through for firefox users. Basically, this technique for adding “quick search” options can be used at any site on the internet that has a search feature. One of my favorite uses for this feature is for google maps. Basically on my systems I can type “gm Street Address, City, State” and click enter and my browser will zoom to that area of a google map.
Here is how you can easily and quickly set this feature up for the beermapping.com location lookup.
1. Travel to the beermapping.com location-lookup page (this will open a new page so you can keep these instructions open).
2. Right click in the “Name” search field. You should get the option to “Add a keyword for this search”.

3. Fill out the name and keyword on the next window. The name is basically just a description so you will know what it is if you happen across it in your bookmarks folder. The keyword is important. You need to use something simple and easy to type. I chose “bm”, and it seems to work well for me.

4. Click ok, and you are done.
Now anytime you are browsing around the world wide web and you would like to quick search the beermapping.com brewery/brewpub database, simply type your keyword and the brewery/brewpub you would like to lookup into your firefox address bar.
For example, since my “keyword” is “bm”, here is what I would type if I were quicksearching “Allagash”

That quicksearch returns something like this;

Like I said before, this technique can be applied to any site on the internet that has a search. Simply right click on the search field (the box you can type into) and start assigning keywords to all of your favorite sites!
