My favorite Berkeley Brewery. Small, not too pretentious, friendly enough, and with some very nice beers on tap and cask. I spent a number of good evenings in there watching ports and try to revisit any time I'm in town.

Never understood why people would got to other two Berkeley brew pubs, being either singles joints or industrial warehouses. However, more power to them if they keep my Triple Rock small and friendly.

I visited Triple Rock twice: the first time was 20 years ago, and it remained golden in memory, an early brewpub visit that was a benchmark of good beer and good times. I visited again about six months ago -- sat in the same seat at the bar! -- and although some things had changed, I came away with the same wonderful feeling. A big selection of house beers, and the ones I had were uniformly excellent. Great service (although we were clearly not regulars) and good knowledge of the beers. The place was clean but comfortable, and the folks at the bar with us were all friendly. I'd go back tomorrow; I'm sure not going to wait 20 years again!

Claiming to be America’s Oldest Original Brewpub, Triple Rock is still using the original brewing equipment under original ownership. Located in an old building in downtown Berkeley, the pub is a classic. The windows into the brewroom.are on one side wall along with a fair size bar. There is table seating in the bar and a small roof patio upstairs. When we last visited, there 7 house brews on tap and a cask conditioned offering (there are usually guest taps as well). I enjoyed a Lowry's Imperial IPA and a Tree Frog Scotch Ale. The menu includes a pretty typical array of appetizers, salads, burgers and sandwiches. We found metered parking on the street and there is a good size public lot just around the corner.

Triple rock is a pretty fun place to have a pint. They have 15+ house brews including a cask ale. They also serve typical lunch foods: burgers, sandwiches, etc. The atmosphere is pretty laid back. There is a small outdoor patio with umbrellas upstairs. 21+ Thursday nights for the special Monkey Head beer night when things can get "kinda crazy". No complaints about the service from the friendly staff. All in all, Triple Rock is a fun little brewpub with some decent beer and food. I look forward to going back but will not become a regular.
