Ok, I will throw this out there…  Who is up for a CTA crawl this late winter/early spring?

My thought is that we get a date and then plan a route. 

March 23rd would work for me and other thoughts?

I'd be down, and have penciled a 3/23 crawl into the calendar. I don't think we've ever done a south side crawl. Not sure if there's a critical mass of good beer joints yet to make that feasible or worthwhile, but I know the scene south of Roosevelt has improved quite a bit in recent years.

I should be free, and have gone virtually nowhere in the city beer-wise, so will be happy no matter what the route is.

Nowhere save for the German pub crawl, that is!

I'll be travelling on the 23rd and won't be able to make it  . If it gets pushed back to the 30th, that would work. Otherwise, have fun on the crawl!

I do not think I have anything planned for the 23rd.
But before then, I should mention the Logan Square Draught Beer Preservation Society has its annual pub crawl on March 4th {I defer from my usual date annotation - because it sounds cooler this way.}. I have suggested going up Milwaukee Ave from Armitage to Logan Blvd.
I'm not going out of town this April; but if this did slide back to 6 April, I still would not be able to make it. I'm attending a sexpositive exposition in the near northwestern suburbs that weekend.

There are definitely options, although it would involve some buses. Maria's, Skylark, Simone's, Pl-zen, maybe Three Aces.

I have suggested going up Milwaukee Ave from Armitage to Logan Blvd.

Why stop at Logan Square, the O'hare branch also hits Fischman's in Jefferson Park, Revolution in Avondale, and Hofbrauhaus in Rosemont (maybe that's too far out?). Lake Effect Brewery is off the Montrose stop, not sure if they do tours yet though.

I've always liked the Brown Line for the views from the elevated tracks... no shortage of beer options either. In addition to all the usual places, extending past Lincoln Square there's Rockwell's right off the Rockwell stop, and Golden Crust Pizza on Kedzie. They have 40 taps including 18th St., Pipeworks, and Lake Effect. HQ Beercade is a newer beer bar with vintage arcade games, right off the Diversey stop.

How about starting at HQ Barcade, then going-up the brown line to the Paulina-Lincoln and hitting Green lady, Shire & maybe Northtown (assuming they are still all open) then jump back-up to Irving and do the Globe, Long Room & Ten Cat (again assuming they are still open). 

Compact yet diverse?

That sounds good to me... maybe squeeze in Local Option? Fizz also has a nice outdoor patio and average beer selection... Fountainhead has a pretty awesome roof deck.

Green Lady is in the old Shire spot... this would be a timely route as the #11 Lincoln bus has been recently retired

Horse Thief Hollow (10426 S. Western, 773-779-2739), a capacious family-friendly restaurant with a bar and a barbecue program, opened recently in Beverly. A mixed-'cue plate is pretty good; better still are spicy chicken wings and "spent grain" pretzels, deeply flavorful little bar bits served with a goopy cheese-product-type sauce. When I tried it, Kitchen Sink Pale Ale tasted like it included the dishwater, too, but there are other beers, plus wine and a thoughtful cocktail list.

Also, isnt there something close to HQ Barcade that we can walk to?

We could fill up the crawl with stops at Lincoln, Belmont, & Ashland. It has Fizz, Beckett's {the beers there selected by Kyle McHugh of the late 'Drinks Over Dearborn' shop}, the Northdown Café, the Green Lady, the Waterhouse Tavern, and Finley Dunne's.
If we walk east along Roscoe to Southport, there are even more choices:

• Schubas
• Southport Lanes
• Justins
• Schoolyard Tavern
• Newport Bar & Grill
• Mystic Celt

But since I like to go against the grain, let me toss Andersonville out here.
We can hit Simon's Tavern, Hopleaf, Hamburger Mary's, and finish at the Edgewater Lounge.

Beginning @ 2:00 pm sounds good.
But we seemingly have not yet set the route. Although it does sound as though Redrover intends to begin at HQ Barcade.
The forum software revision here dropped the 'attending' feature. Who is going on this crawl?
