I also saw that the 5 Rabbits Brewery will open soon and that they are putting in a Hoffabrau Haus in the new Rosemont entertainment district.

Good time to be a beer drinker in Chicago!
John J. From Goose will be brewing for 5 Rabbit too...

Heard the Hofbrau will be opening soon. Rosemont is such a wasteland for airport travelers...
This pic on their site looks a little shopped.. :?:

Quote
The cost to landscape in front of Hofbrauhaus will total $13,154. Construction of the 20,000 sq. ft. Hofbrauhaus stand-alone building is currently underway with a Dec. 1 opening anticipated.

Lake Effect Brewing is up and running, they poured their beers recently at Beer Hoptacular last weekend and are brewing on their house system now :dancebeer: They say kegs are headed to local bars soon, no ETA yet.

Having gone there tonight based on your message (alas, I have a permanent Thursday conflict...), I can assure you the serving size is a pint glass. Minus foam. And many folks were enjoying it, even with the abv ever creeping up -- they say it's a 7.2% glass of holiday cheer these days. I can't vouch for it (yet) -- I had the Neil Armstrong tripel and the Darkside dubbel, and wanted to be able to drive home, so...  :monoclebeer:

New addition to the Elmhurst scene, Hamburger Jones just opened.   Half of the restaurant occupies a greenhouse like structure, so it痴 pretty neat.

http://www.hamburgerjones.com/images/menu/Hamburger_Jones_Menu_.pdf

Unfortunately they don稚 list their craft beers on-line (yet) but they have a solid bottle list and some interesting rotating craft drafts including Revolution Cross of Gold (and the Revolution Christmas beer in bombers).  Prices are good; most beers under $5 and bombers are under $10.  I had Summits Saga IPA for only $14 a pitcher and it was also $3.50 per pint.

Food was impressive, but my guess is they will slim down the menu over time.  One of the best patty melts I have had in ages.

Rosemont Hofbrauhaus opens Jan. 2013. Heard they will be brewing on-site... also heard there's a new beer bar next door, Park Tavern.

Went to the Park Tavern near United Center, was ok, seemed like it might do better in Rosemont with the tourist trade.

Via CBS list: Hofbrauhaus having a soft opening at 9PM on January 21.

...and it appears i'm talking to myself. :empty:
well, at least the bots are listening. :poke:

I'm listening, I'm listening! I'm surprised Hofbrauhaus wasn't already open -- I drive past there every couple of weeks and the place is lit up like a Christmas tree.

Hey Bill!
Thought it was funny that I was replying to myself ;) echo..echo...

I guess people have reported seeing large fermenters outside the building, not sure if they're brewing on site already for the opening.

In other news, a slew of new breweries out there, so many to keep track of. 18th Street has a kickstarter going and a collaboration brew with Pipeworks, Brotherhood. Flesk Brewing is up and running, Church St., Begyle, Spiteful, Lake Effect, and more. Haven't heard anything about New Chicago lately, still looking for space I think.

Broad Shoulders just had their liquor license approved. Whew
Ex-beermapper Jalaffler is starting up Off Color, should be all kinds of interesting.

Do keep updating this thread.  I just found the site and I'm liking this more than my previous beer findamajigs.

There are officially too many new brewery startups to keep up with... :burn:

So a few more breweries are popping up into distribution... Flesk, Lake Effect, 18th Street are currently on shelves. Ale Syndicate (Formerly New Chicago) launches this month. Label approvals for a few others in the wings... like "Nomad Brewery" aka "Lincoln Park Brewery, Inc." apparently trademarked by Lush?  wat? :?:

Howell's & Hood is open, Uberstein closed, and Lillie's Q burned down last week.

Chicago Craft Beer Week is on the horizon... probably why we don't see Beerinator around here much. ;)

Let's see... what's new...

DryHop is open, i've heard very good reports so far. Lillie's Q is back open after the fire there. Lake Effect has beers in bottles. There's a new brewery opening every other day it seems :toast:

Anyone else?
