Can’t wait for FoBAB? Come to and Get Your Wood On Early at Sheffield's Beer School Bar! We will be tapping a bunch of wood or barrel aged beers. From sours to stouts, come and see what Wood can do for you.

We will be kicking it of with Lauren Salazar of New Belgium Brewing doing a talk and tasting of some of the great sour beers from NBB. Lauren is one of the Brewers & Sensory Specialist at New Belgium Brewing Company. She developed the sensory program from a basic production check to its present program and is responsible for all facets from design to implementation to re-engineering. Other areas of interest and fun at the brewery include brewery-wide flavor training, new product development, small/esoteric beer production and wood barrel project. Lauren is a judge at the World Beer Cup and Great American Beer Festival.

In addition at 9pm, Goose Island will be doing a Vertical tasting of 06’, 07’, 08’, & 09’ Bourbon County Stout. Bourbon County is a imperial stout that is as dark and dense as a black hole with thick head the color of the bourbon barrels it was aged in. The nose has an intense mix of charred oak, chocolate, vanilla, caramel and smoke.

Some of the "Get Your Wood Early" drafts:

Founders Hand Of Doom (Barrel-aged version of Double Trouble)

08' Goose Island BCS

Two Brothers & Urthel's Moaten (Oak aged sour flemish red ale)

New Belgium Le Terroir (Sour beer barrel-aged for two years and then dry-hopped with amarillo and cascade hops )

Two Brothers Oak-Aged Domaine DuPage

New Belgium Tart Lychee (Three year wild (oak barrel acidified with souring bacteria and Brettanomyces yeast) beer blended with lychee and Ceylon cinnamon.)

Goose Island Imperial Brown Goose

New Holland Oaked Hatter

and a few more!!!

beerinator: @kevinthepang if it was red/tomato based vinegar sauce it could be western. Eastern has no red except for pepper flakes.
