Jeff, yes I still have Deb's cell.  If our event gets done in time, we will call the cell.  Thanks for posting.  Laura

Hmmm, its in the CTA Tattler blog as well... listed as the "Beer Advocate's 4th annual CTA Pub Crawl".  They even have a link to the map...

Yeah, this may be the 4th and last one of these we do.  I think posting it on other sites and promoting it in general has turned out to be a bad idea.

Really sorry about that. I was actually concerned a week or so ago that no one was signing up. I think the German crawl is already posted as well.

edit - Just checked, yes the German crawl is up, already has 23 people signed up for it. One other thing of note is that of the 11 people signed up for the CTA crawl over on BA, at least 9 of them are also signed up here.

I think the saving grace here could be that this is not really an "organized event".  There is no admission, all the bars on the schedule (except for Metropolitan) are still open to the public, and there is no transportation to organize.  This is really more of a general suggestion of bars to attend in a particular order than it is a formal event.  So, the group will end up being whomever we choose to bring along when we transition from one bar to another.

IIRC from the German Pub Crawl, people were moving along at their own pace anyway, there wasn't really a big group of people all moving together.  If we keep things low-key, this will only be as big as we want it to be.

Did some recon at Long Room, here's a few gems on tap:

Maharaja
Red & White
Night Stalker
Boon Mariage Parfait
Surly Three
Red's Rye
Matilda

They open at 5pm on Sat., we should arrive right when they open... cheers!

In the past we've (not intentionally) had "Alpha", "Beta" and "Charlie" teams. This year, if the crowd looks totally unruly at Local Option, I may do my best to section people off in groups with one of our regulars/local as a leader to take a smaller group.

I am programming my phone for the bus stops and it can usually see the next bus and the 2 upcoming busses, so we can stagger our movements a bit until we all get too buzzed to care.

Hopleaf is sort of screwed, but we will be three blocks away at Metro (and they are coming with us to Hopleaf) so we can (and should) definitely depart from there in small groups.

Note: that long room tap list looks sort of frickin sweet.

If Hopleaf looks unruly, it's nice to have an alternative  cheers!

You know who I feel really sorry for today?  The bus drivers!

I can imagine their feelings when they pull up to a stop with 15 or 20 people standing there waiting to ride... smile

I think for the most part it was just right. I stressed quite a bit about it.  We had a fairly large bus routing mistake, but other than that I think everything went ok.

The surprise to me was that Long Room was superb. I think if we did this exact route again, we might drop Risque for Goose Island or another Clark location.

By the way, I think I have about 30 minutes of video footage from the crawl... we'll see how much makes the cut as I try to maneuver it into Beer Mapping's first video tomorrow!

The video is going to be fairly funny by the way... smile

I am splitting it into two parts because I got so much footage at Metropolitan. The first part is between 7 and 8 minutes. The Metro part will be more than 8 most likely.

Thanks to Metropolitan again! They were awesome and we're sorry for any headaches that might have occurred over the past few days!
