This looks awesome, Jonathan.  Thanks!  I was wondering, though, if you've any upcoming plans to expand the scope of these regional maps to include beer bars, beer stores, and homebrew stores like you've done for the city maps.

If I can assist with gathering and providing any information, at least for Western NY, I'd be happy to do so.

Cheers!

I have considered dropping the regional brewery/brewpub only maps all together in favor of state based maps that display everything.  Or maybe not dropping the regional maps, but instead giving the user the option to select a state in order to see everything available in the database for that state.

One main issue I have with the city maps as they are currently (which I might have figured out a solution for today with the Proximity Search issue) is that for each city I have selected other "towns" that surround that city that will show up on the map if there are locations for that town.  This as you can imagine is a big speedbump for me since I have to make sure the town for a new location is approved for the map or else it won't show up.

Anyway, long story short, yes, smaller "more compact" maps are in the pipeline.

I don't want to see everything initially. First I want to see just brewpubs over a region so that I can target travel destinations based upon size of blue clusters. Then once I decide on an area to visit, I might want to see other types of markers so I can hit a beer bar or beer store while I'm in the area.

Let me select a center point, a proximity radius, and one or more types of places.

I would find state based maps helpful.  I'm going to be driving all over the lovely state of ohio ina couple months for graduations and family get togethers and would love a state map.  That being said, are there any beermapping users from ohio?  I need some advice about places to go in Athens, Columbus, and on the road from Columbus to Cleveland.

Want to add location: Chovy's, Meadville, PA

Would it be appropriate to add a restaurant? This one http://www.chovysitaliancasual.com/ has well over a dozen on tap, including the distinctive Southern Tier.

First you should make sure that it isn't already on the site by using the location lookup function (remember that the regional brewery/brewpub maps do not show places that don't brew the beer on-site).  On this site, it would be entered as a beer bar even though you may not think of it as a bar.  If it's not already in the database and the beer selection is significantly better than a typical restaurant, I would add it.  You should then follow up with a review to describe what you liked about the brews that were offered (not just the food).  If your review helps someone else find a good beer, then it's worthwhile.

First of all, great job! I run Views and Brews, ( http://viewsandbrews.com ), and this site gives me a great first look at a state, before I visit.

I have some updates for you:

1. Slopes Resturaunt And Brewpub, Presque Isle, ME  - CLOSED

2. Skytop, Kingston, NY - No longer brewing, still serving decent beer.

3. Add - Dutch Ale House, Saugerties, NY

Actually, I'll just stop there, and recommend you look at my site

Each state has a Google Map, which I try to keep up to date.

Example for NY:

https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?f=l&hl=en&geocode=&time=&date=&ttype=&ie=UTF8&t=h&om=1&msa=0&msid=109956227476517109602.00044019d982bd1e282bf&ll=43.060861,-75.860596&spn=5.859331,10.283203&z=7

Most of the entries have url to the brewpubs,
