I have been using google's mobile maps for a while now. But I really don't know how I could possibly connect the two at the moment. Google would probably have to write another api that was solely geared toward the mobile application.

If they do, then I'll jump on it. But I don't think I have the technical know-how (or the time!) to get it up and running by myself.

It's a good start. Google has come out with new mobile map applications recently that would be a great way to visualize this data on the phone. http://www.google.com/gmm/index.html
I use a Treo and the combination of beermapping data and Google mobile maps while travelling would be terrific.
