Brewery Lookup Functionality
Ok, I must admit, I’ve been a little slack on the beermapping front lately. I appologize. My non-internet world has been infringing into my mapping stuff. But I’m trying to get back into it a little bit at a time.
Today, I’ve got for you a really ugly text only page that will allow you to select a state (more options later) from a drop down list. After selecting the state it will query beermapping’s database and it will display an alphabetical list of all breweries/brewpubs for that state. Click on the name of the brewpub you are looking for and it will open up a new browser tab/window that will be centered on the location on a beermap.

You are beta testing this functionality. I am on my way right now to the shower to wash off last nights Night of the Living Ales and I will be hitting Stoutfest 2006 in about an hour and a half.
Please feel free to comment to this post if you hate this new functionality, or if it is not working correctly or if you love me and you want to send me airline tickets to come drink beer in your town. Expect this lookup page to improve drastically in both appearance and functionality.

The new “purty” page is located here;
beermapping.com/location-lookup
Feel free to bookmark this search page, or there is a link on the right column and a link to location lookup at the top of every page.
There are options now for city, state and name searches. Name and city work with partials, so you can simply type “g” into name (without quotes) and it will return every location in the database where the name starts with a G. Each result has four possible links attached to it. Clicking the result’s name will send you directly to it’s location on the maps. Clicking the city, or state will do a quick lookup for other possible locations in that city or state. And finally, if there is a known official website for that location, this link will appear at the bottom of the returned result.
I’m already enjoying the “random pick”. Refresh the page a couple of times to see how fun it is!
